The North Hays County Steering Committee
is a registered Political Action Committee; tax ID #27-1175067,
that consists of many business and political leaders in North
Hays County. This Committee was formed to support the initiative
to be annexed into the Austin Community College District.
There are many advantages to the Hays CISD
being part of the ACC District: |
- ACC is purchasing 96 acres on FM 1626 near Hays High School for a future campus.
- Tuition rates for in district students is $39 a credit hour
versus $137 a credit hour
outside the district.
- ACC provides high-quality, affordable education that helps
citizens find better jobs,
earn higher wages and contribute more to the local tax base.
- The Texas Comptroller’s Office reports that every dollar
invested in higher education returns $5.50 to the local economy.
- A well-educated workforce reduces the need for social services,
which shrinks
the overall tax burden.
- Career training opportunities in advance technology, applied
technology, healthcare, multimedia, public service and business.
- Customized training, such as management skills, technical
and leadership training, tailored to meet the needs of businesses
and organizations.
- Entry level job training programs that can be completed in
a year or less.
- An Associate’s Degree brings in $510,000 more in lifetime
income than a
high school diploma.
- General education courses at ACC transfer to any Texas public
college or university.
- ACC students who transferred to UT Austin in the Fall of
2006 earned a GPA of 3.6.
- The ACC nursing program has one of the highest passing rates
in the state (97%).
- ACC provides STUDENT LIFE PROGRAMS engaging students in clubs,
events and organizations.
- Seniors receive an additional $105,000 tax exemption and are eligible to attend classes with free tuition within guidelines.
